New-to-You Fluid Service Package - E46 M3 S54

Bought a used S54 E46 M3? Among the first things you should do is a full fluid service. With "Extended" and "Lifetime" service plans it's possible your new car has not received appropriate oil changes and fluid checks. If the previous owner(s) followed the factory service plans it may have only received a few engine oil changes and only one or two transmission and differential fluid changes. If you're lucky the brake fluid, power steering fluid, and coolant may have been topped up as necessary.

This comprehensive package is a bit of our own personal choices if we were buying an E46 M3. As BMW enthusiasts and racers we have strayed from the Genuine and OEM parts catalog - and for good reasons! It includes all premium fluids from Red Line, OEM, or Genuine BMW to give your M3 S54 a fresh fluid overhaul*. Package includes:

Mahle OEM oil filter
Red Line MT-LV for manual and SMG transmission, 2 quarts
Red Line 75W140 for rear axle differential, 2 quarts
Red Line Fuel System Cleaner
Genuine BMW coolant, 1 liter
Ate LV DOT4 brake fluid, 1 liter
Cabin Air Filter (Activated Charcoal)
Wiper Blade Set
Engine oil is not included*
OEM air filter is not included**

*Engine oil is not included. There are many opinions about S54 motor oil but also brand preferences/allegiances. It's your engine and your preference. We choose Red Line 15W50 for the S54 and you can add some from the Related Items list below. We also offer the Genuine BMW 10W60 if you want to stick with a factory-approved oil. We prefer the Red Line 15W50 because of it's tremendous strength and consistency, even when hot and under high-RPM stress. It's also thinner (in lab tests) than the factory 10W60 despite the 15W rating.

We have also included Red Line fluids for the transmission (MT-LV, close to Genuine LT-2) and differential (75W140). The factory transmission oil recommendation is revised often but we feel the MTF-LT-2 was the best trans fluid for the E46 M3. It's becoming pricey and harder to get but the Red Line MT-LV is close in specs and is our preference.

**We have elected not to include an OEM air filter in this package because so many cars have a cone filter intake. You can add a stock air filter for the original air box from the Related Items below.

Spark plugs are also recommended but not required. They typically last a long time (70,000-100,000 miles) and your car may not need them just yet. Use the NGK Platinum for a standard replacement or the NGK Iridium for a high-performance plug - see Related Items below.

This package can be altered or changed based on your preferences. This package works great as a moderate overhaul during the year or pulling your car out of winter storage for the new driving season. It's a bit more extensive than a factory Inspection II. Please call or email to request a custom package that meets your needs.
